Hot Spot

After another frustrating call to ATT regarding our internet/phone/cable service ... we found out that they once again didn't have us scheduled to have UVerse installed.   Now the problem is that the box is too far from our house.   Interesting, since the box is in our front yard, AND our neighbors across the street already got set up using that box.    Anyway, more miscommunication, and another 7 day  wait for them to come "check the premises."    So, Colin called Sprint yesterday (who we have cell phone service through) and set up a "hot spot" through our phones for a month.  So, here I am at 1:30, kids all in bed (only one actually sleeping) and updating our blog.

We are experiencing so many different emotions since coming home.   When we brought Jack home on Saturday, we found that Coop and Charlie had both started running low-grade fevers, green snot, and terrible congested coughs.   Awesome.    So, Sunday morning, got them to the doctor, got them both some antibiotics (AGAIN! for poor Charlie) because both of their ears were red and full of fluid - a day or two from full blown infections.   They went ahead and prescribed the AB as a preventative measure - especially since we didn't want Jackson to catch it.  Though, it appeared to be viral, so we didn't really think it would help.  Anyway, Jackson started coughing yesterday morning.    I was worried about him and the pain of coughing, but he seems fine about it.    The cardiologist said as long as he doesn't run any fever, to just let it runs its course.   bleh.

On Sunday I accidentally scooped Jackson up under the arms to get him down from a stool.   That is the one instruction on what I SHOULDN'T do ... pick him up under the arms.   He grimaced in pain and looked at me with tears in his eyes, "mommy, you hurt me.  "   Oh my.  I cried.   ALOT.    I felt so terrible.  Since then I have been so paranoid about doing it again, that I find myself avoiding picking up Cooper or Charlie either.

Anyway, enough negative.    Recovery is going very well.  Jackson is doing better and better everyday.   He is frustrated about not being able to play at the park, etc ... but he has PLENTY of fun things to do thanks to all the care packages that he received.
I was able to go to the novena last night that some friends have been holding at church, and it felt so good to be there.    It was wonderful to pray with them and have some time for my heart and mind to be quiet.   Not a whole lot of quiet happening over here.   It sure helped put all the little frustrations in perspective.
Jackson is home.   And safe.   And no longer has a vsd.      And our follow-up appointment is on Monday.   So we will get a good idea of what the leak looks like now.   The left ventricle should be also be returning to normal size.  We are excited about the appointment (only mildly nervous).

Colin's mom is here for the week, and friends from church are bringing meals everyday.  Amazing.  I have a haircut appt on Thursday.   And this Saturday, some friends a throwing me a little shower for Maggie.   How exciting!

Trying to get settled in our new home, and start to tackle some of the projects, like having all the trim and floors replaced near the laundry room.   Find a home for some of our stuff that is lying around the house.  Register Jackson for Kindergarten and Cooper for preschool.   Get it together.   Get things back to normal.   Hard to imagine that they ever will be after the last month.  But I am hoping we can at least get to a new normal before Maggie shows up.

Please keep Charlie in your prayers.   He is getting ear tubes on Thursday morning.

Here is hoping that if any of us need any more surgeries or medical procedures, we can get it done this year.    Heart surgery.   Having a baby.   Ear tubes.   I'm pretty sure we will be maxed out on our insurance.   Wish elective procedures would apply : )

By the time I post again, I'll have the usual pictures of the kids and their recent activities.

Thanks again for all of the support and prayers.  We are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

So, that's enough negative.   Otherwise, recovery is going very well.

  1. I always come across the scripture verses 1) God admonishes those who are close to Him and 2) bare your share of hardship for the sake of the gospel when I feel totally maxed out... I really don't like it when God does that. You are being prayed for every day at the Dawson house.
