Jackson's Science Party

We celebrated Jackson's sixth birthday last weekend with a science party at Sci Tech.   Had a great time - invited all the boys from his class plus a few from the other Kindergarten classes that were on his basketball team.   We also asked his two best buddies from preschool - Nathan and Julia, and their brothers and sisters.   Had a great time, and it was AWESOME having someone else do all the party leading.  We just showed up with snacks and the birthday boy : )

When we first got there, I accidentally let the balloons go while we were setting up the table ... they went up to the top of the museums ceiling - like 3 stories high.  WHOOPS!   Jackson was crying, Cooper was hysterically crying.   And they were repeating ,"Oh no!!! Now we don't have any balloons!"  Ha.   Anyway, we convinced them that life would go on, and soon friends showed up and they forgot all about the balloons.

I made sugar cookies - was planning on doing just J's and 6's but Jackson asked that I make some like "those little glass things that scientists use that have bubbling stuff inside"     So, I stayed up too late the night before and made like 60 cookies.   I have this problem with making too much food.   Like everyone might need to eat 1.5 cookies and I won't have enough.   There were plenty.   More than plenty.

The kids had alot of fun with the hands-on exhibits.

 

 After the kids played for a while, their party helpers" did some experiments with them and helped them make rockets.

Coloring rockets is serious business.  Or at least for our three boys.  The staff literally had to clean up the area around Charlie after the party was over.

 After the fun outside, we headed back in and had cupcakes and cookies and snacks.  

What a fun time!   

Can't believe he is 6 years old.  

It's so fun to think about the day he was born and how our lives were forever changed.  I'm so proud to be his mom and so excited to see what every year brings.

Eleven Months

Okay, so Maggie is going to be ONE on Thursday.  One!   on   THURSDAY! 

ahhhh.

I figured that I better post her 11 month pictures before her birthday.   She finally got the two top teeth by her eleventh month.   Crawling around, happy as can be.   Loves to laugh, eat, play, ... and think she loves to be part of our family!   We couldn't ask for a cuter, chunkier, happier baby. 
She will not keep a bow or a hat on her head.   Probably due to the fact that I have only put a bow on her head a handful of times.   She's rocking a mullet right now ... not sure what to do about that.   I'm just willing the hair on the top of her head to grow.  
Never wears shoes ... somehow made it through the winter with socks and blankets, but now i am starting to notice that most one year olds have shoes on their feet ?!?   I mean, really people.   the pressure.   Once she starts walking I guess.   And who knows when that will be.   She's happy cruising around.   No steps yet.
Bow or no bows.  And shoes or no shoes.   She's so sweet and squishy and loveable.  

 

 

 

The Great Outdoors

 How cute is Jackson's list??? We told the boys the day before that Colin was going to take them (Jackson and Cooper) camping.   I stayed home with the little two.  I would love to have gone camping, but not with a baby and a 2 year old.   So I was happy to stay in the comfort of our home this time : )
Colin took some pictures while they were there - Lake Murray, Oklahoma.   About 1.5 hrs away.   The weather was beautiful, and they stayed for one night.    There was lots to see, including a brand new nature center and a tower overlooking the lake.

 Their favorite part was the "beach"    They have never been to the "real" beach and we are looking forward to making a trip - hopefully next summer.    I know I sound like a party pooper - but its a long drive to make to have 2 in diapers, and 3 different naps to work around.  

 Colin said the water was FREEZING.   These two didn't care. 

 Jackson said it wasn't so bad if you just buried your feet in the sand : )

 Enjoying the fire (surprisingly!)  I think it might have gotten Jackson over his fear.  He never freaks out, but he is very, uhm, cautious and aware if I have a candle lit, etc....   We will see when we light up his candle this weekend for his birthday party.

 Breakfast the next morning! Followed by some powdered donuts.

Love that they had this time together.   No work, no phones, no tv, no school.   For 24 hours at least.  I'm really looking forward to doing it often as they all get a year or two older.

Oh, Maggie is so much fun.   So glad I caught a few moments with my camera.   Too much is sneaking by without me documenting it.   And I know I will forget it all!!!
And yes, her cheeks are red in the pictures.   We took a (LONG) walk to the park over Spring break, and I will be remembering sunscreen from now on.   It looked MUCH better the next day.
