Jackson got a haircut this past Tuesday. Cute, right? While I took him to do that, Alison (Colin's sister) stayed home with Charlie and Cooper. She had arrived on Monday night to help out around this week. It was Spring Break for Jackson, and I had some last minute cleaning and baking to do for Jackson's carnival party (on Saturday). Back to the haircut - while Jackson and I were out, Colin was at the ER getting a CT scan. He had gone in to the doctor that afternoon because he had been experiencing some stomach pain off and on for about a week. At first he thought he might have a stomach bug or food poisoning - but the rest of us were feeling fine. It went away for a few days, and then Sunday night he felt awful again. Monday - still lousy, but at work. Tuesday - feeling almost normal, but still went in to the doctor. He sent him to the ER, had his scan, was admitted into the hospital, and scheduled for an appendectomy at 9pm. I made it to the hospital after I got the kids dinner/baths/bedtime organized. Colin's surgery went fine, and the surgeon confirmed that his appendix had definitely needed to come out - it was inflamed and ... he told me more details, but I don't remember anything. It was a blur. I couldn't stay the night, Charlie is still waking up at night/early morning to nurse .... so I got home around midnight, and went back first thing on Wednesday. We made it home before noon, and Colin slept off and on for a day or two. He is doing much better - still exhausted, and still sore from surgery. He doesn't like being a patient. I mean, who does? But it was a busy week here and just getting through a normal day with three little kids takes a lot of energy and work. I know it was hard for him not being able to help with the everyday stuff - and with Jackson's party, too. But luckily, God had a plan, and Alison was here. It was a huge help to have her here (THANK YOU ALI!)
I'm thankful that we are starting a new week, with no big plans, and we can just get back to normal. Thankful that Colin is fine. Thankful for my family.
Here's hoping for a normal, boring, routine week!
Wow! That is some craziness! Glad Colin's feeling better and the surgery went well. Can't wait to see pictures from the party!
