Brothers

I was cleaning up the kitchen yesterday morning when Jackson asked me to take his picture. He explained to me that he was helping hold Charlie up on the couch.

Charlie was delighted

Delighted enough to eat the blanket.

Cooper wanted to join in the fun, too.
He kept saying, "i hol' you up, char-gee"

I love watching them grow up together. Jackson has been very nurturing with Charlie from the get-go. He is a ridiculously big help. He keeps Charlie from crying all the time. If he hears Charlie even start to whine, he rushes over and starts giggling to try and get Charlie to smile. He is always bringing him toys, and asking him questions. Today Charlie was playing on our little toy kitchen, and Jackson walked up and asked, very seriously, "Charlie, what are you cooking for me?"
Cooper was indifferent when Charlie first came home from the hospital. He adjusted so well to a new brother, and didn't seem to disrupt his life much at all. As he has gotten a little older, he is following in Jackson's footsteps. He's always helping get diapers for Charlie, and loves to giggle with him, too. He's still working on how to do the "toy swap" when Charlie has something he wants to play with. He is starting to show some improvement from just screaming, "mine!" and grabbing it from his hand. Today I stopped him in the act, and said, "cooper, make sure to offer Charlie a different toy if he has something you want." He very sweetly said, "okay" and then threw a book at Charlie. I couldn't help but laugh.
He'll figure it out sooner or later.
