Oh Christmas Tree

This past Sunday, we got home from church, and then decided to make a trip to a Christmas Tree Farm in Van Alstyne, TX. It only took us about 20 minutes to get there. Jackson LOVED every second of it, and I couldn't keep the smile off of my face, either. My dad took us every year to cut down a tree. I have some great memories from those trips. I often think about one year after we had been walking around for what seemed like ages, when I asked for the hundreth time, "What about this one?" And then he said, "Nope, too religious." It wasn't until later when I realized what he meant. Religious = holy. Anyway, I think about that moment every year when we pick out a tree.
So, the boys were in heaven. Lots of people had their dogs with them, and it was beautiful there. There is a little shop with fudge, jelly, hot cocoa, and little Christmas decorations. Best of all, we got to take a hay ride.
So, I tried to capture Jackson's pure excitement. This is what I got.
But, I'm telling you - he did have a great time.

Getting ready for the hayride.

Again, looking thrilled.

I hope we make this a yearly tradition.

  1. Liz...that comment your dad made is hilarious! In my entire life, I've had a real tree only one year. Just used to having the artificial, I think, that I'm not sure I want to attempt a real one. Glad you guys had a good time. And thanks for the chuckle...I needed it after paying bills!

  2. Love the religious tree! Ha. Nice memory of your Dad.

Gosh, is Jackson losing that baby face? I love his expression in the 2nd picture. He's gorgeous, Liz.
