My Uncle Jon and Aunt Trudy were so kind to let us stay at their house in Colorado Springs this summer.
We stopped on the way there and spent the night in Amarillo. Kids did so great in the car. As soon as we arrived in CO Springs, the boys explored the whole house and found the toy closet : )
First outing - Garden of the Gods. I was here with my Aunt and Uncle almost 20 years ago!
I remember the kissing camels the first time, too!
Charlie and his map.
teeny tiny children.
It is all so breath-taking. We were there early, before the crowds. Saw lots of birds, rabbits, and even a deer right on the trail.
We laughed about how happy the kids were to see this little bunny.
Our yard was full of them at the time!!!
I wish I would have stood up straight.
Jackson taking pictures : )
So nice to be with Colin and the kids ... seeing so many new things. And being outside!
Went on a little hike... Helen Hunt Falls, and then a trail that led up the mountain.
It was pretty steep! Kids did great.
Went on a little hike to Red Rock Canyon... I think that is what is was called.
Loved it so much. The views are incredible!
Love how the rock is tiered on the side of the mountain.
Went to a space museum - we got in free with our Perot Science membership.
Kids made and shot straw rockets.
Up the cog railway to Pikes Peak ...
It was cold and cloudy!
Jackson used our old point & shoot camera an took some great pictures!
He has a good eye : )
Here are some of my favorites that he took ...
Charlie was a trooper. I know his little legs were tired! He LOVED holding the binoculars, but it slowed him down so much!!!
The boys handed me flowers the entire time.
We drove the whole way home without stopping. Which was nice ... but a long time in the car.
I really loved all the time we had outside and together. No soccer games or school! No chores!
We are so thankful for this trip!!
Can't wait to go back.
