Charlie's Birthday

Charlie turned two on June 5th.   Every time we ask him how old he is, his first response is "PIE!" (Which is his way of trying to say "Five" because he heard Jackson talking about being five for the last couple of months.   Once I prompt him, he will hold up two fingers and say, "Tuh!"  He is such a smart, strong-willed, laid back with a serious temper, funny little kid.   He isn't saying all that much - reminds us alot of Jackson.   Actually, he says alot, but none of it makes much sense.   He likes to use motions and pointing along with some silly sounds to get his point across.   It is pretty evident that we will have all three boys will be in speech.   I hate that it is such a struggle for our kids, but thankful how far they have come.   And thankful that it is a "problem" that we can help them get past.

I don't have Charlie's 2 year stats because we don't have his well check until the end of July.   I know he weighs 30+ pounds, and he's tall, and has a big head ; )

His favorite things include ...
Puzzles.   Books.     Shoes.      Food.      Playing outside.    Being included when the older boys are playing.

He's not as into cars or trains as the other boys were at this age.    He plays well by himself, but also soaks every second up if I can sit next to him and play.

He wants to do everything on his own.   Gets really angry when he can't.

Takes a short nap everyday.  Often less than 1 hour.   Sleeps great at night.   Very rarely wakes up in the middle of the night.   Still in a crib.

We got the little "froggy" potty down today, and the first time he sat on it, he was successful!   And we tried again tonight, and he did it again right away.   I don't think we are anywhere close to potty training.   It would be rather difficult since he can't even say peepee or potty or anything that we would recognize as a request to go.   Alot of his words sound the same, so it's hard to distinguish what he wants unless it's in context.

We celebrated  his birthday with some cakes from "Nothing Bundt Cakes."   Tyler was in town for the evening because he had an early flight out of DFW.

 So excited about his presents.

Jackson was equally as excited.
He knew what all the gifts were, and couldn't wait for Charlie to open them.

 A Puzzle!!

New Kids' Music from the Speckmans.

 Maggie watched all the festivities.

Charlie has a dog that he sleeps with.   We were at Nordstrom one day when he saw this miniature version.  And he loved it.
It was a no brainer that we would get it for him for his birthday.
I can't help but smile when I see how happy it made him : )

 Not sure about the candles.

But boy, was he excited about getting the cake.  I wish I had video of his reaction.
We were rolling.
He tensed up, his face turned red, and he shook his fists back and forth.
Hilarious.
It's like he just couldn't contain his excitement.

We couldn't stop laughing at him.

I'll post pictures of his birthday party soon.
We had a great time.
