thanksgiving craft

Earlier this week my friend , Emily, gave me this great idea for a Thanksgiving craft. So, Jackson and Cooper helped make 20 of these pilgrim hats for Jackson's classes at both of his schools. We filled the cups with fruit snacks, raisins, and a few pieces of candy.

We hadfun making them - and they didn't take long at all. I cut out the circles (which weren't actually very round at all, whoops) and the buckles while I was watching tv after the boys went to bed. Then I just hot glued them together, and attached a label on the bottom that said, "happy thanksgiving, from jackson."
Now I just have to remember to bring them to his class tomorrow. Oh, and pack his lunch, too. I've got to got to bed so I can get my act together in the morning.
On Tuesday morning I noticed water coming out from under the garage door when I walked to the mailbox. Sure enough, our hot water heater had broken, and was leaking everywhere. I'm glad I noticed it when I did, because we had all of our stuff from our bookshelves in cardboard boxes on the garage floor. We're trying to pack all the books and frames and stuff up before we get our floors put installed next week. Luckily, I unpacked the boxes in a crazy hurry as soon as I saw the water and the water soaking up the sides.
Long story short, we are now the proud new owners of two new water heaters, and $2000 poorer. Kinda sucky, but, just glad it wasn't any more of a mess than it was. The thing is, we are all healthy. The boys are all fine. I tried to not throw myself too much of a pity party. I let myself have a moment, and then got over it.
Colin and I will celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary on the 20th of December. We've decided that I will give him the water heater on the left, and he will give me the one of the right. Happy anniversary!
We will all be heading to Austin on Sunday for our week "vacation." Colin will drive back in a rental car that same day, and spend the week here in McKinney while the floors are installed. I'm going to try to make the drive home with 3 boys by myself. Should be fun!
