Daingerfield State Park

The day after Colin's birthday, we took the boys camping at Daingerfield State Park (about 2 hours away).    We left Maggie with his parents ... smart move.

Love how Charlie's hat is pushing his ears out.
He was so psyched to go!

I should mention that it started drizzling as we got the tent set up.

On the ride over, we made a list of everything we needed "to do" when we got there.  Jackson wrote it all out (numbered) and Cooper handled the illustrations on his page.
We stuck to the plan, but did it fast.
Temp was dropping and rain was starting.

I worked in the tent getting the bed/sleeping bags set up.

We decided to take a walk around the lake after we set up camp.
We made it about 1/2 mile when Cooper decided he needed to go to the potty.
So, I walked back to the campsite bathrooms with him.
He ended up not even needing to go after all.   ha.

Colin took the camera as they made it around the lake.  It was really pretty.

This is the last of the pictures.
The rain kept coming and the temp kept dropping.
That night the boys went to sleep so easily - I was praying the rosary - the last day of a novena for a friend's son, Max ... he was having heart surgery.
Anyway, I finished the prayers and looked around - I put the boys and Colin to sleep : )

I was a good sport until the middle of the night.  My toes were frozen and I couldn't warm up.
I was so worried about the boys, but they did great. They were actually dressed appropriately.   I had assumed my sleeping bag would keep me warmer.   It didn't.

That morning  I tried not to act miserable.   I wanted to sit in the car with a warm coffee.
We finally got on the road, and about halfway home I regained feeling in my feet.
But, its really not about me : ) is it?
The boys had so much fun!!!
Hope to do it again soon, with better weather.
