January ....

Just before Christmas, we noticed that Charlie's left eye started crossing when trying to focus on something up close.  Took him to our ophthalmologist, who presumed he was far-sighted.   Once he checked his vision, and realized that he could see perfectly, he told me that we didn't need to do anything.   I thought  - Well, I am not happy with that answer.    It just so happened that I had talked to my friend, Jessica, earlier and she mentioned that her son had seen a specialist and Presby Plano.  So, I made an appt and saw a really wonderful eye doctor/surgeon.   He prescribed Bifocals for our little dude... which will keep his eye from crossing, and therefore prevent the muscle from weakening.   If we didn't do that, his vision in that eye would begin to suffer because of the crossing.
Bifocals are kinda a big adjustment.   It really takes a while to get used to seeing the world that way.   They suit his personality, and he has done wonderfully with them!  As his teacher said, it does look like he is seeing the world in HD.

Not so sure at first, but Colin put on his new specs, and Charlie felt a lot better!

I miss his hair.   He just ended up with a crew-cut after a lady cut his bangs like he was an odd looking Beatle.  Hoping it grows quickly.

Maggie got a tea set for Christmas, ad the boys have been so sweet about having "tea parties" with her and stuffed animals, too.   The often drag all the play food along too, and have a full picnic.

Jackson and Cooper doing a dino kit that Cooper got for Christmas.

These two play so well together.   Neither nap (and of course, Jackson is normally at school).  But during naptime, they are so good and playing quietly together and doing some project.

Also missing Coopers shaggy look.
He's also sporting a crew cut.  HA.

Jackson has a book that gives you all types of science experiments and projects.  They made quite a few over the break.   Including these "ice boats."

We added flags and took them out of the containers   The bath water was  a little too hot and they melted pretty quickly.

Spent the day at our friends, the Moxleys.   We ate and ate and ate.

Actually, the kids played and our hubbies drank some beer and hung out.
And Claire and I ate and ate and ate.   : )

I realize the lighting isn't good.
But it doesn't change how adorable Charlie is.
Cute, even tinted blue.

Annabel and Maggie playing.
She is so very sweet with Maggie.

Cooper and Matt playing with a treasure map and treasure : )

 Funny little thing.

Other happenings in January...
Jackson got dismissed from speech.  He has been receiving speech therapy since he was three - at three different schools.
For his "dismissal celebration," Mrs. Cooper (his speech pathologist), told him he could choose any treat he wanted.   He picked cheese popcorn and iced animal cookies : )
So proud of him and how hard he has worked.

January is usually a tough month.  My dad's birthday. The anniversary of his death, and Mawmaw's too.  Plus we always seem to be sick at our house in January.
And the kids have the "it's over?" attitude after Christmas.
I say every year we are going to take a trip or a cruise and "get away" in January.
Anyway,
I did attend a retreat at St. Marks - CRHP and really enjoyed that experience.
I'm enjoying getting to know so many women from the church.

Also, my friend Sunshine just had her 4th child, and back in January a few of us had a little lunch for her here.  Post to come ...
