Maggie's First Birthday

Look at my wreath!   I've never made one before!  It looks so cute and unfaded in this picture.   Now it is a lot sadder.   And still hanging on the front door.
I made it in honor of Maggie's First Birthday Party!  To which there was really no theme, except sweets.  Lots, and lots, and lots of sweets.

And paper pompoms.   I kept them up for a long time ... going to hang a few in her room one of these days.

Made a banner - inspired from the invites.  I really do better with a theme.

Lots of sugary goodness.  Lots of baking.
Totally worth it.   And so was the 4-5 pounds I gained that week making it all.
I made plenty of everything and that was the party favor - a box of goodies to take home : )

Lemon Blossoms.

Mmmm, my favorite cookies.   The cookies that make baking every other type of cookie not quite worth it.  They never quite compare to these.   At least for me.   They are salty.  And chocolately.    And full of vanilla.   And salt.   And chocolate : )

Cake Batter bark.

Sugar cookies.

Brown butter snicker doodles.

Oreo truffles.   Oh my.   Could use a couple of these right now.

I covered some letters in fabric for her.  Doubled as cute decorations on her shelf in her room.

We had some "real" food, too.  Sandwiches, fruit, chips, deviled eggs.

Maggie's month-by-month pictures.

There weren't really any "activities" planned.   The kids played on the swing set.

We sang happy birthday to the sweet girl.  She never cracked a smile.   And, shocker! did not show any interest in digging into her cute smash cake.   We even tried later that evening.   Still not interested.   So, the rest of us ate it : )

Cake was supposed to resemble the invites.   hmmm.   And I tried to make "confetti."   It wasn't my best, but it tasted pretty good.

Tried to get a picture with Ms. Maggie.  IT was REALLY windy.  And she was making a silly face.

Oh, we did have a "punch box."    Full of little prizes.    It was a hit, going to have to do that again for Charlie's birthday, too.

Soaked up some time with Mawmaw and Pawpaw.

Oh, and Grandma got to stand guard while she continuously climbed on top of the tables.

We did some tattoos.

Charlie and Cooper LOVED her new tea set and picnic set.  Cooper actually said, "I have been wanting this... for Maggie!!!"

Not sure how I managed to get zero pictures of Courtney or Daniel.
They were very helpful in getting everything ready.   As were the grandparents.

A little sad that our little girl is one.   But also really happy to celebrate her.   And on this "first birthday" party, I didn't have the typical "I'm pregnant" announcement to make.      [Exhale].

Excited about this next year with her.   1-2 years old is my absolute favorite time.   I know they can be little stinkers at this age, and keep you on your toes, but I love when they learn something new!   And I love watching her take steps and waddle across the room (She started walking about a week ago - at 13 months).   I love her squishy legs.   And her curiosity.   I love that she climbs on anything and everything, including her brothers.  And stools.   And toilets.

Happy birthday sweet Maggie.
